Trial with €100 banknotes at Geldmaat
Published on:
In May, Geldmaat launched a trial lasting approximately six months to issue €100 bills at nearly all Geldmaat stores. Starting in mid-June, each of 46 Geldmaat stores across the country will have one ATM that dispenses €100 bills.

A key reason for the trial is that the purchasing power of a €50 bill has roughly halved over the past twenty years due to inflation. €100 now buys about the same as €50 did twenty years ago. With this trial, Geldmaat aims to investigate whether Dutch people are actually willing to withdraw and use the €100 bills.
