Following him, his colleague Inge van Dijk, Director of Payments, Cash, and Market Infrastructure, explained the recently published DNB Vision on Payments(opens in new window) . To make our payments system more resilient and reduce dependence on a few players or systems, DNB encourages the market to innovate and supports innovations such as the digital euro.

Rik Goslinga of Adyen outlined the developments in the payments landscape over the years and discussed agent-based AI as the next step. Carlos Conesa of Banco de España spoke about the major power outage in Spain last year and the insights it provided regarding the resilience of the payments system. This was followed by a discussion on the digital euro between representatives from DNB (Menno Broos) and the Ministry of Finance (Mark Kruidhof).

The afternoon concluded with a panel moderated by Sophie Cohen Tervaert, Head of the Retail, Payments & Research Department at DNB, on the societal impact of innovation: what does this mean for consumers, merchants, and society as a whole?
