Accessible Banking Wins the ABC Trophy
Hooray! The Accessible Banking program has won the 2026 ABC Trophy. This is a special recognition of the joint efforts of banks to make banking more understandable and accessible to people who have difficulty reading, writing, or using digital banking.

Special Video About Accessible Banking
We created a special video for the ABC Trophy. In this video, we show what banks and the Accessible Banking program have developed and are doing specifically for people with low literacy skills. We help make information clearer through simple language, clear explanations, and attention to people who are less digitally literate. This way, we ensure that as many people as possible can manage their banking affairs independently. Watch our video here (in Dutch).
What is the ABC Trophy?
The ABC Trophy is an award for organizations that go the extra mile to ensure clear and understandable communication with people with low literacy skills. The award is presented annually by Stichting ABC , a volunteer organization run by and for people with low literacy skills. The nomination was made by the board; people with low literacy skills themselves choose the winner during their annual Language Ambassadors Day. The trophy is a work of art created by a professional artist. Each year, a different letter of the alphabet takes center stage. This makes every ABC Trophy unique.
The award ceremony in Utrecht
The award ceremony took place on May 9 in Utrecht, during Language Ambassadors Day. Accessible Banking was nominated for the award alongside Logius and Zuyderland Hospital. The chairman of ABC, Arjan Beune, spoke highly of Accessible Banking:
“With Accessible Banking, banks are showing that they go beyond just numbers. They are doing their best to remain accessible to people who struggle with digital banking. For many people in our society, this is a matter of vital importance. That makes Accessible Banking a more than deserving winner.”
We remain committed
We are very proud of this award. The ABC trophy shows that clear and accessible communication really makes a difference. In the future, we will continue to work with banks to provide understandable information, personal assistance, and accessible solutions, so that everyone can continue to participate.
