Digital Resilience and AI
On June 3, Michel van Bommel represented the Dutch Payments Association at an interactive panel discussion titled Real Not Today “Echt Niet Vandaag in Dutch” at the Library of The Hague. The afternoon focused on the question of what happens when crime, technology, and AI converge. Moderated by Anniko van Santen (Opsporing Verzocht), experts from education, law enforcement, and the banking sector engaged in a discussion with each other and the audience about digital resilience.

Key themes included recognizing and preventing online deception and digital scams. The panelists discussed how AI is used by criminals as well as by law enforcement agencies and banks, and the opportunities and risks this entails. They also addressed what citizens can do themselves to become more resilient and what steps victims can take.
In addition, artist Noortje van Velzen provided an explanation of her exhibition The Digital Detoxery, which explores the impact of digital technology on our behavior and consciousness.
The event provided an opportunity for questions and interaction, and encouraged participants to form their own opinions about the role of AI in both combating and facilitating digital crime.
