New Dutch chairman of EPC takes office

On 11 June, Gijs Boudewijn took office in Brussels as the new president of the European Payments Council (EPC). Boudewijn was director of Betaalvereniging Nederland until 1 June this year. At the EPC, he succeeds Spaniard Javier Santamaría.


Gijs Boudewijn was elected new chairman by the EPC’s General Assembly of Members in December 2024.
The EPC develops and manages all collective rules and agreements for European non-cash payments in euros , including for non-cash transfers, direct debits and the so-called Verification of Payee (VOP, known in the Netherlands as the ‘IBAN Name Check’).
