Netherlands leads EU in online banking

More than nine out of ten people in the Netherlands manage their banking online, according to Swedish fintech company Trustly .
The payment service provider conducted research in the Netherlands, Sweden, Spain, Italy, France, the United Kingdom and Germany. It surveyed 1,000 respondents aged 18 to 66 in each country. The Dutch are tied with the Swedes, while the Germans finish at the bottom of the ranking.

Highest levels of trust and satisfaction

Dutch respondents are more likely to say they trust their bank (86% of respondents) and are satisfied with their bank (88%). More respondents in the Netherlands also consider online banking secure and easy to use than in the other six countries.

Statistics Netherlands research

Statistics Netherlands also periodically researches the use of online banking. Its latest study was conducted in 2016 and found that 86% of people in the Netherlands aged over 12 regularly use online banking. The same was already true in 2014 (in Dutch) .
