DNB reflects on the end of Chipknip
Published on:
DNB reflected on the end of Chipknip and the completion of the Dutch payment market’s transition to the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).

A long period of purely Dutch payment methods had come to an end. Payments were now organised on a European basis, as the Dutch payment market became fully integrated into SEPA after Chipknip disappeared. DNB argued that Dutch experience showed how cooperation, open infrastructures and consultation could help merge national payment markets into a European market.
