EMV / EMVCo

EMVCo is a partnership of card schemes (including American Express, Mastercard, and Visa) for joint technical standards for payment cards. The letters EMV originally stood for Eurocard, Mastercard, and Visa. Eurocard no longer exists, and other card schemes have since joined EMVCo. EMV refers to the technical standards for secure payment chips in payment cards. EMVc specifically concerns the standards for contactless payment cards.
