Published on:

Today, Thursday 3 August, a brief debit card payment disruption affected shop tills across the Netherlands from 11:30. The disruption was resolved at around 12:10.

The disruption was caused by a temporary problem on the internal network of one of the transaction processors operating in the Netherlands.

Because debit card payments are routed through different transaction processors, connections and systems, only some shop tills will have been affected.

Cash machines were not affected. The cash machine infrastructure is largely separate from the infrastructure used by point-of-sale payment terminals.
