Stakeholder Forum looks (far) ahead
The Stakeholder Forum of the Dutch Payments Association looked far into the future last Monday, examining ‘quantum computing’, the digital euro, PSR/PSD3 (the successors to PSD2), two account-to-account developments, a new service from Visa, and the future of mobility according to Mastercard.

Jurjen Bos from Worldline offered a down-to-earth perspective on developments surrounding ‘quantum computing’ as it relates to cryptography in the payments sector(opens in new window) . What can we do right now to keep payments ‘quantum-proof’, and what don’t we need to worry about just yet?
Marnix Blom from the Payments Association provided an update on the digital euro. Where do we stand now, how did we get here, and most importantly: what will happen over the next 3 to 5 years?
Niels Pranger from the Payments Association walked through the successors to PSD2, the PSR and PSD3. This approved revised and new EU legislation for payment services will take effect in early 2028.
Anne-Marthe Stellingwerf from the Dutch Banking Association(opens in new window) outlined the context of the amendment regarding a basic business payment account, that many banks are required to offer starting in 2027.
Jeroen Jacobs from the Payments Association delved into the elimination of unstructured address data in SEPA payment messages starting mid-November 2026, also for payments to and from countries outside SEPA.
Finally, Visa presented a new smart service for using different payment cards for various types of payments — Visa Flex — and Mastercard shared its vision on the role of payment cards in our future mobility(opens in new window) .
The Stakeholder Forum of the Payments Association takes place twice a year, for representatives of participants in Dutch collective payments.
