Payment terminal incentive scheme for debit card acceptance
Published on:

ABN AMRO, EMS, ING and Rabobank will offer merchants that accept Maestro and V PAY debit cards the option of also accepting Mastercard and Visa debit cards—Debit Mastercard and Visa Debit —at the point of sale. From the first quarter of 2022, these acquirers will introduce a product variant that supports these cards on compatible payment terminals. To adapt existing payment terminals, suppliers of terminals registered with the Dutch Payments Association could apply for a contribution, subject to certain conditions. Applications for this scheme have now closed.
