More debit card than cash payments within four years

Banks and retail organisations today extended their cooperation on point-of-sale payments for another five years. In the presence of Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem, they signed an agreement that includes the ambition for debit card payments to outnumber cash payments within four years. The signatories will also work to make the debit card payment chain even more robust. The Dutch Payments Association will play an important role in this project and in communications encouraging debit card and contactless payments.
