Dutch Payments Association contributes to international mobile malware campaign

Mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets have become deeply embedded in our daily lives. Their popularity has also attracted increasing attention from cybercriminals.

Banks’ mobile apps have remained secure to date, but the risk of mobile malware more generally is real. Hackers can steal sensitive information, use devices as part of a botnet and monitor users’ activities. Unfortunately, most people do not realise how important it is to protect their mobile devices against such attacks.

Mobile Malware Campaign

To raise awareness among users, Europol’s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) is launching its Mobile Malware Campaign(opens in new window) today. Twenty-two European Union Member States, including the Netherlands, and three non-European countries are joining public- and private-sector forces to raise awareness among both consumers and businesses.
