DNB launches IBAN discrimination reporting point

The Netherlands will complete its transition to IBAN (International Bank Account Number) on 1 August 2014. In the run-up to that date, Dutch organisations sometimes still refuse foreign IBANs, a practice known as IBAN discrimination. Dutch IBANs are also sometimes refused in other SEPA countries, for example for a European direct debit mandate.

De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB)(opens in new window) wants to gain a better understanding of the actual scale of this problem. If you have experienced a Dutch organisation refusing a foreign IBAN, or a foreign organisation refusing a Dutch IBAN, report it to DNB at meldpuntIBANdiscriminatie@dnb.nl.
