René Steenbeke nominated by EPC to the EPSG Cryptography Task Force
René Steenbeeke, senior product consultant at the Dutch Payments Association, has been nominated by the EPC (European Payments Council) to join the Payments Cryptography Task Force of the EPSG (European Payments Stakeholders Group). In this Task Force, René will work on scenarios for the migration to new standards for cryptography in the payments sector. These new standards are resistant to the threat of quantum computers.

On behalf of the EPC, René Steenbeeke is already a member of the EPSG Security Working Group, that develops European standards for payment security in a broader sense.
The EPSG is a European multi-stakeholder organization that develops various standards for card payments and account-to-account transfers within SEPA (Single Euro Payments Area). Participants in the EPSG include representatives of retail merchants, manufacturers of payment terminals and payment instruments, transaction processors, collective payment methods (“payment schemes”), and the EPC.
At the EPC, René Steenbeeke represents the Dutch Payments Association and its members in a working group that develops a European scheme for digital payment requests, known as the SEPA Request to Pay (SRTP).
