Rabobank offers customers Digital Mandate Service

Published on:

Rabobank began offering its customers the Rabo Digital Mandate Service. Consumers could use internet banking to issue a one-off or recurring direct debit mandate online, without a signature on paper. The screens were based on iDEAL. Dutch online shops, energy companies, telecoms providers, insurers, other businesses, associations and foundations could offer this payment option. Customers could arrange their direct debit mandates quickly, securely and easily.

Anyone entering into an online agreement by desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile phone and paying by direct debit could use the new service. The benefits of direct debit, such as paying afterwards at an agreed time or making recurring payments, could therefore be used more effectively online. As with a paper mandate, customers could have the amount refunded within eight weeks if they disagreed with the direct debit.
