Dutch Payments Association representative joins PCI SSC Board of Advisors

The Dutch Payments Association works with organisations involved in the security and accessibility of payments in order to serve the interests of its members as effectively as possible.

For example, the Dutch Payments Association is a member of the European Card Payment Association (ECPA) and chairs the ECPA Security Working Group (SWG). The ECPA consists of various domestic European card schemes and European payments associations. On behalf of its members, the ECPA represents their interests to organisations that shape the European and international card payments landscape.

The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) leads a global, cross-industry effort to increase the security of card payments through industry-driven, flexible and effective data security standards and programmes that help businesses detect, mitigate and prevent cyberattacks and data breaches. The ECPA is a Strategic European Regional Member of PCI SSC, allowing the Dutch Payments Association to make its voice heard in this global organisation through the ECPA.

PCI Board of Advisors

The Board of Advisors is an advisory body made up of organisations from around the world. Participation allows these organisations to become involved in and influence the development of PCI’s international security standards and programmes.

As chair of the ECPA SWG, Oscar Covers, cybersecurity analyst at the Dutch Payments Association, has been appointed as one of 29 Board members joining the PCI Security Standards Council in its work to secure payment data worldwide. As strategic partners, Board members contribute industry, geographical and technical insights to PCI SSC’s plans and projects. “There is growing recognition in Europe that competing on security makes little sense. European banks and payment institutions are therefore working together more and more to make electronic payments safer and combat fraud. I find it valuable to be able to contribute to this work.”
