Gijs Boudewijn, Director of the Dutch Payments Association, was a guest at the 6th International Conference of Regional Card Schemes & Retail Financial Market in Amsterdam in October. The conference focused on changes and innovations in regional payment infrastructures.

Gijs Boudewijn moderated the conference round-table discussion on experiences from Europe. He raised several questions: How important is sovereignty in payments, and how easy is it to achieve? Do globalisation and the need for interoperability work against that sovereignty?

The other round-table participants were Céu Pereira (European Commission ), Martina Weimert (European Payments Initiative ), Anni Mykkänen (European Banking Federation ) and Regis Folbaum (La Banque Postale ).
