Members of the European Parliament voted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europarl.europa.eu\/news\/en\/press-room\/20240202IPR17318\/ensuring-euro-money-transfers-arrive-within-ten-seconds\">overwhelmingly <span class=\"icon inline-block ml-1 w-[0.875em]\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><svg aria-hidden=\"true\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" fill=\"#000000\" viewBox=\"0 0 256 256\"><path d=\"M228,104a12,12,0,0,1-24,0V69l-59.51,59.51a12,12,0,0,1-17-17L187,52H152a12,12,0,0,1,0-24h64a12,12,0,0,1,12,12Zm-44,24a12,12,0,0,0-12,12v64H52V84h64a12,12,0,0,0,0-24H48A20,20,0,0,0,28,80V208a20,20,0,0,0,20,20H176a20,20,0,0,0,20-20V140A12,12,0,0,0,184,128Z\"><\/path><\/svg><\/span><\/a> in favour of the bill, with 599 in favour. Payment service providers operating in the European Union must also offer a service to verify the recipient&#8217;s name. In the Netherlands, this service is known as<a href=\"https:\/\/www.betaalvereniging.nl\/betaalproducten-en-diensten\/iban\/iban-naam-check\/\">&#8216;IBAN Name Check<\/a>&#8216;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As an additional safeguard against fraud, payment service providers must offer their customers the option of setting a security limit for <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.betaalvereniging.nl\/betalingsverkeer\/giraal-betalingsverkeer\/instant-payments\/\">Instant Payments<\/a><\/em>. Users should be able to change their security limit easily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Payment service providers offering <em>Instant Payments<\/em> should monitor daily whether any sanctions or other restrictive measures apply to their customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cost\">Cost<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The fees charged by a payment service provider for an <em>Instant Payment<\/em> should not exceed the fees for a regular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.betaalvereniging.nl\/betalingsverkeer\/giraal-betalingsverkeer\/europees-betalen-sepa\/\">SEPA transfer<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-non-euro\">Non-euro<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These rules also apply to banks in EU Member States whose currency is not the euro for all accounts reachable for SEPA transfers.
