Consumers could use internet banking to issue a one-off or recurring direct debit mandate online, without a signature on paper. The screens were based on iDEAL. Dutch online shops, energy companies, telecoms providers, insurers, other businesses, associations and foundations could offer this payment option. The benefits of direct debit, such as paying afterwards at an agreed time or making recurring payments, could therefore be used more effectively online.
