{"id":2202,"date":"2016-03-08T14:15:00","date_gmt":"2016-03-08T13:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.betaalvereniging.nl\/en\/?p=2202"},"modified":"2026-08-07T02:21:25","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T00:21:25","slug":"banks-launch-pilot-idin-online-identification-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.betaalvereniging.nl\/en\/news\/banks-launch-pilot-idin-online-identification-service\/","title":{"rendered":"Banks launch pilot of iDIN online identification service"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-intro-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">The first iDIN pilot began on 8 March under the coordination of the Dutch Payments Association. iDIN is a new service from the banks that allows consumers to identify themselves online to other organisations using their own bank\u2019s secure and trusted login method.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"567\" height=\"420\" src=\"https:\/\/www.betaalvereniging.nl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/10\/iDL091-WT-IDIN-logo-blauw-rgb-v4.png\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"Log in with iDIN\" style=\"object-fit:cover;\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.betaalvereniging.nl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/10\/iDL091-WT-IDIN-logo-blauw-rgb-v4.png 567w, https:\/\/www.betaalvereniging.nl\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2025\/10\/iDL091-WT-IDIN-logo-blauw-rgb-v4-300x222.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 567px) 100vw, 567px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the pilot, consumers could use iDIN to log in to services including Mijn Belastingdienst, the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration\u2019s online portal. Customers of ING and Rabobank could take part from the start of the pilot. Customers of ABN AMRO, SNS and Triodos would follow in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">iDIN was offered alongside other login methods, such as DigiD for government services. Visitors could choose which login method to use. Using iDIN was similar to the way consumers used iDEAL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To log in to Mijn Belastingdienst with iDIN, the identification service had to be activated once online for use with government services. On subsequent visits, users could log in directly with iDIN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"pilots-with-online-shops-and-insurers\">Pilots with online shops and insurers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During 2016, the banks would also conduct pilots with online shops and insurers.
