Figures for debit card payments at the point of sale went up and down like a rollercoaster, while online payments at webshops exceeded all expectations. Fraud and scam losses also reached exceptional levels. Losses from number spoofing reached \u20ac26.7 million. Dutch banks work closely together to prevent and combat fraud and scams. At the same time, banks and payment institutions cannot solve the problem on their own. We must expand this cooperation further. Cybercrime is a shared societal problem that can only be tackled through a broad, integrated approach involving parties such as telecom companies, internet service providers and the government.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Dutch Payments Association and its members established a Fraud Reduction Task Force. Through a combination of measures, information sharing and public information, the Task Force aims to substantially reduce banking fraud, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.veiligbankieren.nl\/fraude\/phishing\/\">phishing <span class=\"icon inline-block ml-1 w-[0.875em]\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><svg aria-hidden=\"true\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" fill=\"#000000\" viewBox=\"0 0 256 256\"><path d=\"M228,104a12,12,0,0,1-24,0V69l-59.51,59.51a12,12,0,0,1-17-17L187,52H152a12,12,0,0,1,0-24h64a12,12,0,0,1,12,12Zm-44,24a12,12,0,0,0-12,12v64H52V84h64a12,12,0,0,0,0-24H48A20,20,0,0,0,28,80V208a20,20,0,0,0,20,20H176a20,20,0,0,0,20-20V140A12,12,0,0,0,184,128Z\"><\/path><\/svg><\/span><\/a>, stolen and lost debit cards, and online credit card fraud.
