The study follows the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.betaalvereniging.nl\/actueel\/nieuws\/convenant-contant\/\">Cash Covenant<\/a> concluded in April 2022. The reason for this study is that the distribution and use of cash are coming under increasing pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PwC is examining the advantages and disadvantages of various options for the future market organisation and funding of the cash chain. These could include a statutory obligation for banks to keep cash in circulation, the designation of a public cash service provider, or a financial contribution from the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Based on the research report, the Ministry of Finance will advise the House of Representatives, after which political decision-making can take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cash-covenant\">Cash Covenant<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dnb.nl\/algemeen-nieuws\/persbericht-2022\/afspraken-over-goed-functioneren-van-contant-geld-in-nieuw-convenant\/\">Cash Covenant <span class=\"icon inline-block ml-1 w-[0.875em]\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><svg aria-hidden=\"true\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" fill=\"#000000\" viewBox=\"0 0 256 256\"><path d=\"M228,104a12,12,0,0,1-24,0V69l-59.51,59.51a12,12,0,0,1-17-17L187,52H152a12,12,0,0,1,0-24h64a12,12,0,0,1,12,12Zm-44,24a12,12,0,0,0-12,12v64H52V84h64a12,12,0,0,0,0-24H48A20,20,0,0,0,28,80V208a20,20,0,0,0,20,20H176a20,20,0,0,0,20-20V140A12,12,0,0,0,184,128Z\"><\/path><\/svg><\/span><\/a> was drawn up in early 2022 under the direction of DNB. Its agreements are intended to ensure that cash continues to function properly as a means of payment at points of sale.
