CONNECT

To resolve disruptions in the electronic payment system quickly, and preferably to prevent them altogether, the different parties in the payment chain must be informed promptly and correctly of any malfunctions in and maintenance on systems

The Payments Association contributes to this need for reporting and information by means of CONNECT. CONNECT is the Payment Association’s central reporting line and information system for reporting maintenance and malfunctions in electronic transactions involving debit cards and POS terminals. Information on maintenance, malfunctions and incidents is reported and managed through CONNECT, so that participants in the payment chain are aware of any disruptions in PIN transactions. The aim is to inform parties at an early stage and prevent further unavailability of systems.

The service is available to banks, transaction processers and providers of infrastructure involved in the payment chain for debit card transactions. They can enter and update maintenance, malfunctions and incidents themselves. POS institutions (such as shops or restaurants) can also gain access to CONNECT, in order to be informed of maintenance, malfunctions and incidents.
