Rising cybercrime threat, but less online banking fraud

The National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism has published its annual report on cybersecurity in the Netherlands, Cybersecuritybeeld Nederland (CSBN) 2017 (in Dutch) . In the report, the Dutch Payments Association and the banks state that online banking fraud is being tackled increasingly effectively. Nevertheless, the Dutch Payments Association and its members recognise the report’s findings and are taking appropriate measures.

The following findings in the report are relevant to payments:

CSBN 2017 provides insight into interests, threats, resilience and related cybersecurity developments. It focuses primarily on the Netherlands and covers the period from May 2016 to April 2017. The National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism publishes CSBN annually in cooperation with public and private partners, including the Dutch Payments Association.
