Dutch Payments Association joins PCI SSC

The Dutch Payments Association joined PCI SSC on 1 August 2013. The Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) was founded by the global card schemes American Express, Discover, JCB, MasterCard and VISA. It defines and maintains global security standards for card payments and involves relevant stakeholders in this work.
Card schemes and associations of banks that do not operate globally have recently been allowed to participate actively in PCI SSC’s standardisation process as Affiliate Members. The Dutch Payments Association applied for this status and was admitted by PCI on 1 August 2013, making it one of the first European organisations to obtain Affiliate Membership. The Association will participate in the PTS working group on PIN Transaction Security, which develops standards for areas including payment terminals and the transport and processing of payment card transaction data. Affiliate Membership enables the Dutch Payments Association to closely follow global developments and influence the development of important standards for its members and other stakeholders.
