iDIN pilot expands
The iDIN pilot began on 8 March. iDIN is a new service from the banks that allows consumers to identify themselves online to other organisations using their own bank’s login method. Alongside ING and Rabobank customers, customers of ABN AMRO, SNS, ASN Bank, RegioBank and Triodos Bank could now use iDIN too.

During the pilot, consumers could use iDIN to log in to services including Mijn Belastingdienst (in Dutch). iDIN was offered alongside other login methods, such as DigiD for government services. Visitors could choose which login method to use. Using iDIN was similar to the way consumers used iDEAL.
Positive interim results
The first interim results of the pilot were positive. Users found it easy to log in using their bank’s familiar login method. They also considered iDIN secure and reliable and said they would use iDIN to log in again.
Pilots with online shops and insurers
During 2016, the banks would also conduct pilots with online shops and insurers. Once the experiences of consumers and organisations in the pilots had been evaluated, iDIN was expected to become more widely available in the second half of 2016.
